There are times in life, when stressors can become overwhelming, and a need for an outside perspective comes. I have experience working with clients with a variety of concerns such as depression, anxiety, trauma, suicidal ideations, and relationship issues. I work collaboratively with clients to identify their needs and their ultimate goals. Together, we can identify strategies and solutions to cope and ultimately move into a more positive space.
I enjoy working with people of all ages, using both talk and play therapy techniques. I am able to work with both individuals, couples, and family. I have training in play therapy and Trauma Focused CBT. I believe that through building a strong therapeutic relationship, I can assist my clients in reaching their goals. Currently, I am available to meet with clients either in person or via telehealth. I'm able to offer flexibility with my scheduling, with evening appointments being available.

AK Favors, NCC, MEd | AK@bravetomorrow.net Under the direction and supervision of Laniea Godboalt, LPC, CPCS
Hello everyone! My name is Akalah Favors, but everyone calls me AK. I graduated from Georgia Southern University with two degrees. I have my Bachelor’s in Sociology and minor and Women’s Gender Sexuality Studies. I received my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from a CAPREP accredited counseling program. I have experience working with clients who identified with all ages, genders, class statuses, sexualities, and ethnicities. I have specialized in conducting workshops, research, and outreach within the LBGTQ+ community as well. I understand counseling requires vulnerability and I must earn your trust, but my goal is for us to work together. I try my best to make sure all my clients feel welcome, visible, and respected. I have worked with children to adults who have experienced trauma, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, sexuality concerns, suicide ideation, stress, self-management, setting boundaries, balancing daily task, and substance abuse. I have supported children during sessions utilizing play therapy strategies that include art, games and sand play. I understand as a counselor people are the experts of their lives and my hopes is to form a partnership to help clients figure out what is best for them by promoting self-care, understanding healthy coping skills, acknowledging emotions, how to deal with stressors and their inner selves. My theoretical approach includes person-centered, play therapy, strengths bases and cognitive behavioral therapy. I also like to use different interventions that I deem to be the best fit or helpful depending on the clients. I understand life can be difficult and overwhelming for so many different reasons. My goal as a counselor is to create a welcoming and safe space for everyone to feel seen and heard.
Currently, I am available to meet with client either in person or via telehealth. I look forward to working with you all.
