a message for teens:Hey there. So, you are probably reading this because your mom or dad thinks you need to come see a counselor. Maybe you can understand their point.
... or maybe not. Maybe you have no idea why they want you to come, and you don't have any issues at all. Maybe you are angry or frustrated about the whole thing, and your plan is just to come sit for the whole session just out of spite or anger. I just want to share a few things about how this works. 1. Your feelings are okay. Whatever they are, they are okay. You can be mad, depressed, confused - you are allowed to have your feelings. 2. We will be working with your parents. From a legal aspect, they have the right to know everything that we do in our sessions. HOWEVER -- it is very important to us that parents allow us confidentiality with my clients. If you can't trust us, we can't have much of a relationship. We will tell your parents in general ways the things we are working on in sessions, and we will have to share anything that sounds dangerous or harmful. Other than that, things we talk about we stay between us. we will be your person. 3. In our sessions, you get to decide what we discuss. Anything is fair game - friends, school, future plans, dating relationships. 4. This is a time in your life where you are making huge decisions - about life, school, career choices, and who you really are. Counseling doesn't mean that something is wrong with you. It means you are working toward a better you - whatever that means to you. how do i schedule an appointment? You can call Brave Tomorrow anytime at
